Mark 11: 23-26
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

This is one of the many things that makes being a Christian difficult for me; I can forgive on the surface but not from within.

Response on Forgiveness.
I know it may be hard to forgive someone but forgiveness must happen not only for the person your forgiving but also for yourself. It is too much for someone to keep in their mind and heart how someone has hurt them or wronged them. Forgiving shows that you are strong enough to let go and turn the other cheek for this is what our father in heaven does for us each day. Imagine if everything you have done wrong God did not forgive you and gave you the punishment you deserved. It would not be a good thing. We should forgive others so that God can forgive us for our sins and our hearts will not become hardened towards one another. Forgiveness is not always easy but you will feel so much better once you do forgive!

You are completely right and I should pray for more strength to be able to let go and truly forgive. However, I also believe that repentance from the wrongdoer is as important as forgiveness by the victim. Sometimes when people are forgiven by others they take it for granted and aren't really that sorry for what they've done. This happens especially when it comes to a family member. We forgive family more easily on the surface because they are family and sometimes that is abused in the sense that they don't really acknowledge where they went wrong and instead just enjoy the fact the other person isn't causing them to feel constantly guilty and this can make it hard for someone to truly forgive.
God forgives our sins when we truly repent of them. We may have relapses and struggle but he knows what is in hearts as well as seeing our actions and can tell when we are genuinely sorry for what we've done. I think the same applies between people. It is like a man cheating on his wife, saying that he's sorry and so she forgives him and then he, based on that feeling of being forgiven, goes out and cheats again. He clearly has no intention of repenting of his adultery so his wife cannot truly forgive him, at least not while she is still with him. She would have to let him go completely to be able to truly forgive him.
But as I said earlier you are essentially right and you are very blessed if you can forgive so easily. What do you think about forgiving ourselves even when we have repented?
